A close friend of King Charles has revealed the monarch is “aghast” as the fallout from his brother’s arrest rocks the royal family. The monarch is now facing the most explosive royal crisis in generations, following the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor — a moment insiders say has left the King both resolute in public and shaken in private. Speaking on BBC’s Newsnight, broadcaster and long-time royal confidant Jonathan Dimbleby, offered a rare glimpse into how the scandal is really affecting his friend, during an exchange with presenter Paddy O’Connell. Paddy asked: “How will your friend the king be reacting to the arrest of his brother?” Jonathan replied: “Well, I think he publicly is clear evidence that he wants the law to take its course, that he will give complete support to that activity, will say anything that he can to the police and their enquiries. So I think he’s made that clear. He went on to explain that while the King remains measured in public, his private feelings tell a very different story.
