Manchester United made it back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time under Ruben Amorim as they secured a 2-1 win away to Liverpool – their first win at Anfield since 2016. Bryan Mbeumo gave United the dream start as he latched onto Amad Diallo’s perfectly weighted pass before finishing past Giorgi Mamardashvili inside two minutes. United then should have doubled their lead when Bruno Fernandes fired wide from Amad’s cut-back. Cody Gakpo got Liverpool back on level terms after 78 minutes, and it looked as though they would go on to take all three points. Harry Maguire, though, rose highest from a Fernandes cross to head United back into the lead with six minutes to play and consign Liverpool to a fourth defeat in a row in all competitions. Sam Tabuteau was at Anfield to rate the Man United players… United’s new No1. didn’t have much to do despite Liverpool’s late pressure. Still, he made a big save when called upon to deny Alexander Isak in the first-half.
