The rail company said the "transformational" changes, which came into force earlier, meant it would run nearly 10,000 additional services per year. The revised timetable includes a new hourly fast service between Leeds and Sheffield, as well as reduced journey times between Edinburgh and York, and six more Sunday services between Bradford Forster Square and London King's Cross. Lord Hendy, the rail minister, said it was the biggest timetable change on the East Coast Main Line in more than a decade and followed a £4bn investment. There will be more trains to London, Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds and Bradford Forster Square, with faster journey times, according to LNER. Gareth Dennis, a railway engineer and writer, said the changes had been five years in the making.
