Police given extra powers after Toxteth house shooting – Liverpool Echo Skip to main content Police have been given extra powers after a shooting shattered the window of a family house in Toxteth in the early hours of Sunday. Merseyside Police recovered at least three bullet rounds as they probed Kingsley Road in Toxteth following reports that a bullet had been fired through a window. An extensive cordon across a number of roads was put in place today, following the early hours' shooting. Images taken by the ECHO at the scene today showed a shattered downstairs window of what is believed to be a family home. Police initially believed the shooting was a targeted attack at the house but reports from L8 appear to suggest the gun was fired in the street and a chase of some sorts might have taken place. Merseyside Police matrix officers carrying out a fingertip search on Seaport Street appeared to find fragments of evidence on the ground. Officers crowded around three fragments and called in scientific support officers who put down evidence markers and photographed the scene. And minutes later another forensic team found at least three bullet rounds on nearby Millennium Road, which had been cordoned off at the junction with Granby Street.
