This major policy shift, confirmed by the Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division) in response to parliamentary questions, is aimed at improving access to gas for consumers amid declining local gas reserves. Under the new policy, priority will be given to applicants who had already paid demand notices or urgent fees before the ban. Additionally, those who had applied for conventional natural gas connections but are now willing to switch to RLNG based supply can avail the new scheme. Sui gas utility companies have been directed to contact eligible applicants to finalize payments and contracts under the revised RLNG terms.
