Sale Ends 3/1/26Business A Portland company is recalling a beloved frozen Trader Joe’s product after some consumers reported finding glass in their dinner. Ajinomoto Foods North America — a supplier based in Southeast Portland — just pulled more than 3 million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice due to potential glass contamination. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Thursday. Affected items include 20-ounce plastic bags of Trader Joe’s “Chicken Fried Rice with stir fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat and eggs.” Those bags were shipped to Trader Joe’s locations nationwide, according to the recall, and include “Best By” dates of Sept. 8 through Nov. 17, 2026. The remaining product was labeled “Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-style Fried Rice” and shipped only to Canada. Items were in 1.53-kilogram cardboard packages containing six bags of frozen rice and printed with “Best Before” dates of Sept. 9 through Nov. 12, 2026.
