The Opposition’s support for the three Bills, clearing the way for implementation of women’s reservation in time for the 2029 general elections, is crucial as per the present arithmetic in Lok Sabha, where these Bills will be debated on April 16, 2026 and April 17, 2026 and the government is falling short of achieving two-thirds majority requiring to pass a Constitutional Amendment Bill. . Under Article 368 of the Constitution, any amendment requires the support of two-thirds of the members present and voting.
