SOUTHPORT, N.C. (WECT) – The bar at the center of a mass shooting in Southport is closing indefinitely, according to a Facebook post. American Fish Company says that their hearts are broken following the shooting on Saturday night, where three people were killed and five others were injured. “Our prayers are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragedy,” the business wrote. “American Fish Company and Frying Pan will be closed indefinitely as we grieve and seek healing together.” This announcement comes after Southport Police announced the arrest of Nigel Edge in connection with the deadly shooting. Edge is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Arrest warrants allege that Edge used a short-barreled AR rifle fitted with a suppressor, folding stock, and scope to shoot from his boat. During a press conference on Sunday, Coring stated that police responded to the American Fish Company at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, after receiving multiple calls reporting gunfire and multiple injuries.
