The police and fire service both said they were called to the scene on the westbound carriageway between junction 20 at Rochdale and junction 19 at Heywood shortly before 3:30pm. The westbound carriageway has been closed ever since as the emergency services respond to what National Highways has called a 'very serious collision', believed to involve three vehicles. Click here to prioritise Manchester news in Google from the MEN Two air ambulances were seen to land on the carriageway and the fire service were seen cutting the roof off one car believed to be involved. There are also reports of cones and screens in place on the carriageway as accident investigation gets underway.
