Austria will play no part in U.S. President Donald Trump's military operation in the Middle East. The country’s Vice Chancellor Andi Babler slammed the U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran in a social media post Thursday, writing that Austrians “want nothing to do with Trump’s policy of chaos and his war, which will bring us the next energy crisis” and added: "No to war." Earlier on Thursday, Austria announced it had banned U.S. military aircraft involved in the Iranian conflict from using its airspace, citing the country's neutrality law. “There have indeed been requests and they were refused from the outset,” Colonel Michael Bauer, spokesperson for the Defense Ministry, told POLITICO. Under Austrian law, all foreign military flights must apply for permission and declare their purpose before entering the country's airspace. Requests tied to active conflicts are rejected, but routine transit or training missions are eligible for approval on a case-by-case basis.
